General Required Courses
TOEFL Speaking 1 - This course will thoroughly familiarize students with the iBT TOEFL examination. Instruction includes test-taking strategies, analysis of question types, vocabulary building strategies, grammar review, and listening strategies.
TOEFL Speaking 2 - This course will thoroughly familiarize students with the iBT TOEFL examination. Instruction includes test-taking strategies, analysis of question types, vocabulary building strategies, grammar review, and listening strategies.
TOEFL Writing 1 - This course will thoroughly familiarize students with the iBT TOEFL examination. Instruction includes test-taking strategies, analysis of question types, vocabulary building strategies, grammar review, and listening strategies.
TOEFL Writing 2 - This course will thoroughly familiarize students with the iBT TOEFL examination. Instruction includes test-taking strategies, analysis of question types, vocabulary building strategies, grammar review, and listening strategies.
Basic Computer Use - This course is designed to develop the basic computer skills needed for college & career requiring familiarity with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office. The course focuses on user applications at individualized levels. After successful completion of this course, students should be able to pass MOS basic certification with minimal additional preparation.
Advanced Academic Writing - Builds on past composition experience with further instruction and practice in the writing process, concentrating on critical reading and writing techniques needed for the preparation and completion of documented essays and research papers for all classes at LGC and beyond.
Critical and Creative Writing - Identifies characteristics of critical thinking and innovative and creative thinking, and develops a framework for discussing and understanding concepts of knowing, questioning, and developing and presenting ideas. Students learn to build an argument through rhetorical methods, explore the history and formulation of criticism, develop and formulate questions as a mechanism for constructing and supporting concept building.
Christian World View - Refers to a collection of distinctively Christian philosophical and religious beliefs. It describes a consistent and integral sense of experience which provides a framework for generating, sustaining and applying knowledge.
Cultural Diversity and Identity - Small group & teacher-guided discussion about college and dorm life in an international college in Korea. Topics will include intercultural communication, cross-cultural conflict resolution, group vs. individual identity.
Presentation Skills - A basic course in presenting to groups, motivating listeners and ensuring your message reaches the directed audience. Students will learn to deliver dynamic, persuasive presentations that are concise and clear. They will learn to build audience rapport through eye contact, vocal delivery and body language. They will learn innovative design techniques that they will use to create powerful presentations.
