Academic Groups

LGC offers a diverse variety of both formal and informal groups to help students succeed in the classroom. These academic groups include traditional student groups that meet on campus as well as some recent groups that meet online. Here is a partial list of some of these online groups. You will also find online resources to support these student groups. To learn about current student groups that meet on campus, please contact your LGC Student Council representative.

International Diplomacy

The practice of conducting relations between actors with the intent to influence, transmit a position or negotiate on a given issue or situation for a mutually acceptable outcome. Diplomacy is crucial to the peacemaking process and to effecting international relations. It is a method undertaken by state and non-state actors engaged in peacemaking efforts, involves negotiation and mediations processes, and studies the structures of global decision-making. There are traditionally two tracks in diplomacy: Track 1 and Track 2. Track 1 concerns negotiations and political relationships between state actors and multinational organizations, while Track 2 involves non-governmental and grassroots groups employed in international understanding and peacebuilding schemes. Diplomacy is an important academic group related to international communications and cultural studies.
